- Loại những đáp án chắc chắn sai và lựa chọn đáp án đúng nhất trong các lựa chọn còn lại

Câu hỏi 6: Xác định thông tin không được nêu trong bài (unstated details)
Một trong những dạng câu hỏi thường gặp trong bài đọc là tìm câu trả lời là những nội dung không được đề cập trong đoạn văn. Dạng câu hỏi này thường xuất hiện các từ “ not mentioned” “ not stated” “ all following options are true Except” hay “ not true”. Dạng câu hỏi này thì sẽ có 3 lựa chọn chứa thông tin được đề cập trong bài và 1 lựa chọn không được đề cập trong bài.

Trong bài đã đề cập “ The Florida Keys are a beautiful chain of almost 1,000 coral and limestone islands” nên loại A và B. Rồi ta lại có thông tin “ these islands form an arc” nên loại C. Chỉ có D là không được đề cập vì trong bài không hề nói đến “ inhabited”.
DẠNG 5: VOCABULARY IN CONTEXT QUESTION ( câu hỏi 7)
Câu hỏi 7: Tìm từ đồng nghĩa, trái nghĩa ( vocabulary)
Đây là dạng câu hỏi khó yêu cầu học sinh phải đoán nghĩa của một từ khó xuất hiện trong đoạn văn dựa vào ngữ cảnh. Tuy nhiên trong bài vẫn để lại một vài dấu hiệu để các em có thể suy đoán.

Trong câu hỏi này, học sinh chỉ cần đọc xung quanh câu có chứa từ “ unwilling”. Trong câu đó ta bắt gặp cấu trúc “ he never makes Michael..” ( bố của Micheal không bao giờ bắt). If he is ( nếu anh ấy), nên ta có thể lựa chọn được ngay đáp án C. "not wanting to do something".
DẠNG 6: REFERENCE QUESTIONS (câu 8)
Câu hỏi 8: Tìm từ hoặc cụm từ được nói đến hoặc được quy chiếu đến trong đoạn văn
Đây là một dạng câu hỏi dễ giúp các em học sinh lấy điểm. Thông thường các câu hỏi thường dùng các đại từ “ he, she, they.” hay “ them, it, him.” , tính từ sở hữu “ their, its.” những đại từ chỉ định “ this, that, these, those, .” để dùng làm từ được quy chiếu. Đối với dạng câu hỏi này học sinh nên làm đầu tiên. Trong câu hỏi này thường xuất hiện từ “ refer” và học sinh chỉ cần đọc kỹ câu hỏi chứa từ được quy chiếu và các câu trước nó. Thông thường đáp án thường nằm ở câu trước đó hoặc câu chứa từ được quy chiếu.

DẠNG 7: WHERE QUESTIONS ( câu hỏi 9)
Câu 9: Xác định thông tin này được đề cập ở đâu trong bài (where questions)
Câu hỏi này yêu cầu học sinh tìm thông tin trong câu hỏi được đề cập ở đâu trong bài, thường là ở dòng nào đoạn nào trong bài. Các đáp án đưa ra sẽ là các dòng hoặc các đoạn chứa thông tin.

Since the world became industrialized, the number of animal species that have either become extinct or have neared extinction has increased. Bengal tigers, for instance, which once roamed the jungles in vast numbers, now number only about 2,300. By the year 2025, it is estimated that they will become extinct.

Chúng ta ko cần dịch ra quá rõ từng chữ, chúng ta cần phải hiểu nội dung người viết muốn truyền tải. Và với cái câu mở đầu như vậy, thì ta ngầm hiểu cả đoạn sau sẽ đề cập đến những lợi ích của chất béo (fats)
- Các em cần gạch chân dưới tất cả những danh từ được đề cập đến nhiều lần, và điển hình ở đây là fats , các em sẽ thấy gần như câu nào cũng xuất hiện fats

Under the surface, free divers must hold their breath. Most free divers can only descend 30 to 40 feet, but some skilled divers can go as deep as 100 feet
      Scuba diving provides greater range than free diving. The word scuba stands for self-contained underwater breathing apparatus. Scuba divers wear metal tanks with compressed air or other breathing gases. When using open-circuit equipment , a scuba diver simply breathes air form the tank through a hose and releases the exhaled air into the water. A closed-circuit breathing device, also called a rebreather, filters out carbon dioxide and other harmful gases and automatically adds oxygen. This enables the diver to breathe the same air over and over.
